OK! Woo! Here are the stats on The Style Issue, Sept 24. Why am I not surprised that this issue is the most women-represented since we started keeping track?

First things first: How stupid is the cover?

Even though I kept telling myself I would stop, I read the whole profile of Donatella Versace and sort of loved it, mostly because the writer, Lauren Collins, totally puked in her car! As a fellow car sickie, I am always glad to hear other people’s puke stories. Oh, and zp, I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who had a weird feeling there had already been a profile of her!

(The NYerWbW is a regular feature whereby my mother and I keep track of the male/female breakdown in The New Yorker magazine. It’s stunning and shocking and not at all surprising, unless you are a patriarchy denier and/or believe that women are naturally inferior writers. Yo! If you would like to keep track of the white/nonwhiteness of the magazine’s contributors on a regular basis, please let me know – photos of common contributors can be found here)
